This is the first time Ive seen a Risso Dolphin…
Today I had to bury a Risso Dolphin, It sucks that he was dead but it was really cool to see this kind of dolphin up close for the first time as they are really rare on the east coast of Australia. I got the call around 7.30 am that we had a whale that had washed up on the rocks at Birubi Point (refer to map below) so from the get go I was thinking it was a whale I actually though it was so kind on Pilot Whale when I saw it. We had to move it to another area to bury him or Ron as some of the guys called him Why Ron I have no idea, the funny thing is that we had to drive down town with him in the back of the Landcruiser which I wish I had a video of cause people were just doing the old WHAT THE HELL??? while staring in amazement. So we dug a big hole with the tractor as I reckon Ron was about 5m and probably weighed around, at a guess a ton I spose, one of the guys as a joke said a few words, and with that Ron the Rosso Dolphin was layed to rest… R.I.P. Ronny……Peace JS

mate! how cool! to see somethin you wouldnt ordinarily….and probly won’t again….pitty he was cactus. maybe the rough swell? or he was just feelin crook?
